Kromberg & Schubert GmbH Cable & Wire, the internationally renowned subsidiary and cable factory of the Kromberg & Schubert Group, has innovatively extended the already extensive portfolio of high voltage cables and at the same time responded to the needs and demands of the market.
In the up-and-coming automotive segment of electronic mobility, single-conductor shielded cables are used as connection between the drive motor and the battery. However, shielded multicore cables are used to control the auxiliary units.
In the new generations of vehicles, the tendency is more and more to completely remove the shielding of the cable! The proportion of unshielded high voltage cable harnesses is therefore constantly increasing.

Silicone plays another important role in the new high voltage cables from Kromberg & Schubert, known as Kroschu. Silicone has already established itself as the preferred material for German OEMs.
The reasons are obvious: in addition to the great flexibility and the operating temperature of 180 ° C, the material ensures a very good connection to the connectors thanks to its cross-linking and therefore guarantees a high degree of tightness between the cable and the connector.

In the context of validations of high voltage connectors in combination with high voltage cables, this aspect in particular is of utmost importance. Moreover, this is also the reason why many famous manufacturers of high voltage connectors have decided to join its forces with Kroschu!

Also of high importance is the excellent cable assembly, which is achieved through precise manufacturing on high-tech production facilities.
This very good machinability is ensured both by the central position of the conductor in the insulation and by the particular adaptation of the geometries of the conductor to the silicone insulation.

Another upward trend is developing in the conductor sector: aluminum is increasingly used as a material instead of copper. This is not only because of the significant weight savings, but also because of ultrasonic welding processes, which are increasingly used for contact with high voltage lines.
Kroschu has many years of know-how and coordinated product development in the serial use of high voltage cables.
